Will John Edwards respect the will of the NC voters and endorse Barack?

Wed May 07, 2008 at 01:28:24 AM PDT

Senator Obama's decisive win in North Carolina has indeed made him the presumptive nominee of the party and the primary is now over. The front page of the Obama website says it all; he only needs 34 additional pledged delegates to clinch the pledged delegate race and less than 140 Supers for a total of 173 delegates to secure the nomination.

Mrs. Clinton has run out of reasonable options and money, but will not admit defeat.  Should John Edwards step up to the plate for the good of the party and endorse Senator Obama, thereby respecting the will of his fellow North Carolinians?

Hillary & the Middle East, please keep her out of it

Tue Apr 22, 2008 at 09:28:41 AM PDT

Everybody’s making a big deal of Hill's crazy vow to obliterate Iran if they use nuclear weapons against Israel.  While its obvious election pandering on several fronts, i.e., Jewish vote, Reagan Dems and the conservative crowd in PA, that statement in and of itself doesn't scare me.  She's a whiskey swilling CIC.  Give her a cigar.

There is zero chance Iran will make such a move because the Israelis have the nuclear deterrent and Iran understands very well they will use it.  Don't worry, this 3 am moment won't happen.  She's just bullshitting us all.

No, she's now demonstrated to all of us she is one dangerous gal with the unveiling of the cornerstone of her Mideast policy - a regional NATO made up of the Sunni states surrounding Iran.

Should Jimmy Carter talk to Hamas?

Fri Apr 18, 2008 at 11:23:06 AM PDT

This is not truly a diary, but a simple poll placed in the open thread.  I believe we make peace with enemies, and Jimmy Carter proved the point in Camp David.

By talking to Hamas President Carter should not be viewed as anti-Israeli, but his actions should be properly considered as helpful to Israel.  The Israelis need to have a dialogue with them, but for obvious reasons cannot make the first step, and a credible interlocutor is needed. Ergo, Jimmy Carter.

Without dialogue, the horrible status quo will remain, peace will remain elusive, and today its in Israel's interest to have a solution, perhaps moreso than the Palestinians.

Israel has no viable partner for peace, absent Hamas.  So where do we start?
